Technical Compliance & Audit Manager

AMT FRESH are looking for a Technical Compliance & Audit Manager to support our Tesco business, with a strong focus on supplier auditing and technical compliance across our international fresh produce supply base.

Reporting to the Head of Technical Compliance, this role combines technical audit visits with supplier management, working closely with growers, exporters and internal teams to maintain standards and drive improvements.

Travel is a significant part of the position, with visits to suppliers across Europe, South Africa and South America to deliver our seasonal audit programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and carry out technical audits of existing and new suppliers, growers and packhouses across the UK and overseas.
• Assess supplier compliance against Tesco and AMT requirements, identify risks and ensure corrective actions are completed within agreed timescales.
• Manage supplier approval, risk assessments and technical performance reviews.
• Build effective relationships with growers and exporters, providing clear feedback and supporting improvements in technical standards.
• Manage the supplier due diligence programme, supporting the compliance coordinators to keep documentation accurate and up to date.
• Work closely with Tesco’s technical team and internal procurement, quality and supply chain colleagues on supplier compliance matters.
• Oversee microbiological and pesticide testing schedules, reviewing results and identifying trends or emerging risks.
• Support ethical sourcing requirements and the preparation for customer visits at site and source.

We are looking for someone with practical experience of conducting technical supplier audits within fresh produce, alongside strong supplier management skills. Around two years’ experience in a similar role would be ideal.

The successful candidate will be confident working independently during supplier visits, making sound technical judgements and communicating findings clearly. Strong organisation and attention to detail are essential to manage audit schedules and follow corrective actions through to completion.

What We’re Looking For

• Fresh produce experience, including technical auditing of suppliers, growers or packhouses.
• Experience of supplier approval, risk assessment, due diligence and managing non-conformances.
• The ability to build constructive supplier relationships while challenging standards where required.
• Strong communication, planning and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness and flexibility to undertake international travel as a core part of the role..
• Knowledge of Tesco technical requirements and Spanish language skills would be advantageous.
