Buying Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buying Manager to join our ever-growing business. You will be responsible managing the procurement of fruit from suppliers around the world in accordance customer terms of trade and ways of working.

In this role you will:

• Agree programmes with all suppliers in a timely manner ahead of each season
• Carry out end of year reviews of actual vs. programme and analyse performance of grower base
• Periodic updates of volumes to Suppliers to meet changes in forecasting
• Liaise with suppliers on shipping programmes and seasonal issues, monitoring program vs. actual
• Work closely with your technical colleagues to ensure all relevant documentation and due diligence is in place prior to arrival
• Produce weekly programmes for Spanish supply and Purchase orders for Deep Sea shipments
• Make pricing information available to consignment analyst to enable updating of costs in system
• Update weekly the raw material costs into the weekly margin sheets
• Efficient management of stocks to help minimise waste and limit dwell times
• Accurate and in time feedback to growers during the season
• Ensuring margin is delivered through the management of returns, raising debits and ensuring working within the requirements of Terms of Trade.
• Work with the finance functions to produce advance payments to Suppliers on a weekly basis where required

To be successful you will have or be:

• Produce Procurement experience, preferably grape and/or citrus is highly beneficial
• Experience of managing Supplier relationships in a commercial environment
• Up to date knowledge of import regulations / DEFRA
• Excellent communication and influencing skills
• CIPS would be an advantage
• Consultative, influencing and proactive approach and work in partnership with the business at all levels
• A results driven, combined with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
• Strong ability to negotiate
• Problem solving and analysis abilities
